The Ardèche Gorges

Recognized worldwide, the Gorges de l’Ardèche can be explored by foot,bike or canoe. Classified as a “National Nature Reserve”, this deep canyon is a marvel, with a lot surprises and breathtaking landscapes.

The Cave Chauvet 2

The Aven d’Orgnac

The Aven d’Orgnac is one of the most beautifuland world reference cave in the Ardèche. Classified as a Grand Site de France. No less than 700 steps take you 120m underground to discover gigantic rooms.

The Ardèche is dotted with many atypical character villages, several are classified among the most beautiful villages in France. Perched, leaning against the cliffs, medieval, authentic… each village in the department offers an incomparable spectacle.

This formula is articulated over 2 days, which allows you to enjoy the pleasures of a descent of the river at your own pace and to benefit from the animation and the comfort of an overnight stay in our campsite with swimming pool, bar, restaurant, grocery store and all the conveniences of the village nearby.

Downhill sequence

The 1st day:

You will start your descent directly from the campsite. Our partner Aigue Vive picks you up at the campsite (11 a.m. or 2 p.m.)

you will do the first 8 kilometers which requires 1h30 of navigation, you will descend on 3-4 hours of time this distance.

On this route, you will discover the premises of the canyon of the Ardèche gorges with a succession of flat parts and crossing small rapids, you will pass under the famous arch bridge.

You will be able to make the most of swimming, jumping, strolling on the beaches, having a picnic and discovering all the secrets that the surroundings of the river conceal.

You will be picked up by one of the minibuses at a time agreed together beforehand which will take you back to the campsite which will welcome you for the night.

Day 2:

Breakfast from 7:30 a.m.

Around 8:30 a.m., Aigue Vive you will return to your boats to attack the 2nd part of the 24 kilometer descent.

On this route, which requires around 4h30 of navigation, you will all cross the canyon of the nature reserve to Saint Martin d’Ardèche, it is a succession of flat and small rapids.

You will discover an extraordinary fauna and flora, the very particular geological formation which has been dug by the river over the millennia, you will walk in the footsteps of the Aurignacians.

Peregrine falcon, Bonelli’s eagle, Egyptian vulture, beaver, cicada, wild goat, gray heron… These are all the species that you may be able to discover at the bend of a meander between sky and cliff.

You will be picked up by one of our partner’s minibuses at the bottom of the gorges between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. which will take you back to the campsite

You can enjoy our hot showers and relax on our terrace while looking at the photos of the descent before hitting the road again.
